Practical Plastering for Manly West Homes

Manly West has a mix of solid brick homes and newer split-level builds. Humid bay air can get into roof cavities and bathrooms, so using moisture-resistant plasterboard in wet areas stops sheets from sagging early. When you knock out a wall to open up a living area, tying the new plasterboard into an existing ceiling takes true battening and careful feathering so the join does not show in the afternoon sun.

Ceiling installation & replacement

Summer storms, roof leaks, or timber movement cause older ceilings to drop and crack along the joins. We check the joists, prop and screw off loose plasterboard, replace water-damaged sheets, and set the joins flush so the ceiling stays secure and flat.

Manly West plastering FAQs

How do you repair a sagging ceiling in an older brick home?

We check whether the glue has popped or the timber has shifted. If the plasterboard is still in good condition, we prop it, re-screw it securely into the joists, and re-tape the joins. If water or age has broken down the core, we pull that section down and put up new board.

Can you blend new plasterboard into existing patterned cornices?

Yes. When walls come out, we cut the old plaster back cleanly to a solid fixing point. We fit the new sheet tight to the existing cornice, feather out the joint compound gradually, and sand it smooth so the transition blends in naturally.

How do I get a quote?

What affects the price?

Size of the area, access, ceiling height, board condition and finish. Photos and measurements help us price accurately.
