We feather out base coats and top coats across a wide band to hide the change in thickness. Where old walls are out of plumb, we pack out the studs first so the new plasterboard sits flush with the existing wall before setting.
Can you repair a water-damaged ceiling without replacing the whole room?
Yes. If the framing above is still sound, we cut the soft plasterboard back to the nearest joists, treat any damp areas, add extra timber or metal battens, and screw in a new patch. Then we tape and set the joins flush with the existing ceiling.
