How do you stop plaster ceiling joints cracking in bayside weather?
Coastal humidity makes timber framing move as it swells and dries. We use steel furring channels to isolate movement, fix sheets with proper screw patterns, and bed in quality paper tape instead of mesh so the joints hold up.
Can you patch water-damaged plasterboard or is full replacement needed?
If it's just a small water stain or soft spot, we can cut out a clean square and set a patch. If the plasterboard has bowed right across the battens or grown mould, the sheet has to come down.
